TPS recently finished working on DVD content for “Eastern Promises” directed by David Cronenberg.
“Eastern Promises” takes place in London and explores the dark underworld of the Vory V Zakone (Russian Mafia). Viggo Mortensen plays Nikolai, the right hand man of an out-of-control crime boss son played by Vincent Cassel. When a midwife Anna, played by Naomi Watts, tries reuniting a baby with his Russian family, the promises of crime boss Semoyer, played by Armin Mueller Stahl, are unraveled. “Eastern Promises” exposes the brutal violence and deceit of organized crime as the film explores the psyche, physicality, and fortunes of a man whose true nature may never be revealed.
Eastern Promises is written by Steve Knight (Academy Award nominated screenwriter of “Dirty Pretty Things”) and re-teams director David Cronenberg with “A History of Violence” leading man Viggo Mortensen.
The film is getting great reviews and Viggo Mortensen is in the running for an Oscar for best actor. If you haven’t seen the film check it out soon
