For the past two seasons of Heroes airing on NBC, TPS has been responsible for the production and post-production of special features released on the Heroes DVD and Blu-ray collections. We’ve worked closely with executives at both NBC and Heroes to design features that best highlight the season in a fun, hip style and that brings audiences closer to the show.

Our process begins with presenting NBC and the executive producers of Heroes concepts for special features. Once approved, the TPS team and the Heroes production crew coordinate details of the DVD production. All concepts include production, graphic treatments and post-production workflows.

Production for DVD / Blu-ray special features for a television series is a timely process. Our crews are constantly adapting to the Heroes production schedule and the availability of talent. Once on set we shoot low profile HD cameras such as the Sony EX1 which allows our crews to get closer to the action and also keeps our presence to a minimum.

Due to the amount of content produced, post-production is always fast and needs a solid team of editors and assistants to meet delivery deadlines. TPS uses up to five editors per season with two creative directors managing story and aesthetic. Finishing is done in house with two online editors mastering to NBC Universal specs.

Overall this has been a great gig for TPS. We’ve had great reviews by critics and more importantly the fans. We appreciate the hospitality of the Heroes production crew and especially creator Tim Kring and Executive Producers Dennis Hammer and Allan Arkush. We also can’t forget to say thanks to Julie Harter at NBC and ‘The Mighty Foz” at Heroes for all the support and hard work!
