What we do

Talk To Me

Produced by Focus Features and Universal Pictures, TPS was hired to produce two segments for the DVD / Blu-ray release of Talk to Me.

Inspired by a true story, Don Cheadle plays the famous Washington DC radio deejay Ralph Waldo “Petey” Greene, who in the 60’s and 70’s “told it like it was.” At a time when social and political issues where at the forefront of our communities and soul music was singing of change, Petey Greene became the voice of the people. An ex-convict and hustler “Petey” shocked the community by saying the things we all wish we could say. Director Kassi Lemmons, writer / director of Eve’s Bayou, tells an inspirational story that’s filled with music and fashion of the time, supported by actors Chiwetel Ejifor, Taraji P. Henson, Cedric the Entertainer and Martin Sheen.

Here’s the run down on the segments we produced: “Who is Petey Greene” tells the story of the real Petey Greene from the actors and crew prospective. Discussions include the timing of Petey Greene and his influence on the DC community and shock radio. “Recreating P-Town” covers the production design, costume and music of Talk To Me. Kassi Lemmons hired a great staff that focused tons of detail into recreating an era that we only wish we could relive. Our editors often dressed up in tight red velour during edits to get into the groove, which also influenced some really cool transition graphics.
